Joanna Davies, DPhil – Chair

Joanna Davies is Professor at San Diego Biomedical Research Institute (SDBRI). Throughout her scientific career Dr. Davies has focused on understanding mechanisms used by the immune system to protect tissue from destruction.

 

Sheila Ferguson – Treasurer

Sheila Ferguson is a financial management professional with officer-level experience in treasury, accounting, budgeting, investment review and analysis, international taxation planning and restructuring. She served as director for several community service, education and performing arts organizations.  Ms. Ferguson has additional interest and skill in photography and multimedia design for fundraising and the arts.

 

Mark Hargreaves, PhD  Member

Rev. Dr. Mark Hargreaves is Rector of St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla. He is a third-generation priest. He came to Southern California in January 2016 after serving at churches in London for 25 years. He studied Theology at Oriel College, University Oxford (UK) and has a Ph.D. from Robinson College, University of Cambridge (UK). He also gained a Master of Arts in Christianity & the Arts from the National Gallery and King’s College, London. Mark has an interest in community building and enjoys making unlikely connections.
 

John Bauer – Member

John Bauer is Assistant Dean and Executive Officer for the UC San Diego Division of Biological Sciences. Originally trained in the biological sciences and business, Mr. Bauer has held executive positions at various life science commercial and non-profit organizations over the past three decades. He is co-founder of Bay Biotech Consulting and possesses extensive experience in business development, finance, operations management, marketing, and education.

Barbara Lamb, MBA, LSSBB – Member

Barbara Lamb is a community volunteer who currently serves in multiple roles on the Girl Scouts San Diego board of directors, previously led the board of directors for Mothers and Daughters Club Assisting Philanthropies, and held multiple leadership positions in the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers at the local and national level. Professionally, she leads continuous process improvement efforts within the City of San Diego and previously served in various capacities in and around the shipbuilding and transportation industries as a shipyard manager and business consultant. Barbara earned a B.S.E. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan, an M.B.A. from San Diego State University, a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Chapman University, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the UC San Diego.
